The Wickham River is an ephemeral river, located
in the Victoria Bonaparte bioregion of the Northern Territory
in Australia. The Wickham River in the west of the Northern Territory
starts at an elevation of 330m and ends at an elevation of 74m
merging with the Victoria River. The Wickham River drops around
256m over its 198km length. The Wickham River flows through Johnston
Billabong (117m) on its way to joining the Victoria River.
Kakadu adventure tours the trip planners for
your 3 days persoanlised canoeing tour of the Wickham River Australia:
- This is the canoe trip for those that have done everything else
and want pristine wilderness experiences in Outback Australia.
The Wickham River is an incredible place to spend
a couple of days, shady pandanus lined channels, shallow, clear
water and more birds than you can hope for. Like the bird Nettapus
Pulchellus Gould (Green Pygmy-Goose). Which ranges south to Victoria
River to the the upper Wickham River .
Spend a day travelling to Jasper Gorge where we
will have time to watch the sun go down with a glass of wine or
two, watch as the colours change creating a spectacular sunset.
As we continue onto the Wickham River, we four wheel drive through
a private cattle station, the country is beautiful and varied.
Once we arrive at the river we set up camp and prepare for the
trip ahead. 3 days of pandanus lined channels, open waterholes,
rapids, gravel races and sandy beaches, the Wickham has something
for everyone. If you need to get away from the crowds and get
up close and personal with nature at its best, this could be the
trip for you.
